PaddleFest - Kayak Racing
PaddleFest is a canoe and kayak racing competition held in the Beaufort/Port Royal area of South Carolina's Lowcountry. PaddleFest races launched in downtown Beaufort in 2003 but moved to The Sands at Port Royal, a popular location along the Beaufort River, in time for PaddleFest 2005. Past kayak racing winners at PaddleFest include Greg Barton, the first American to take home a gold medal in kayaking from the Olympics. PaddleFest is held the first Saturday in November.
